The Challenge
PocketPay needed a mobile-first payment and wallet app for both iOS and Android, competing in a market where users have high expectations for speed, security, and polish. They required KYC compliance, real-time transaction notifications, Stripe Connect for payouts, and PCI-DSS aligned infrastructure - all within a 4-month timeline.
Their previous vendor had delivered a single-platform prototype that wasn't production-ready and failed security review.
Our Approach
- Chose React Native with Expo for a single codebase targeting iOS and Android with native-grade performance
- Built a Node.js + PostgreSQL backend with Stripe Connect for peer-to-peer payments and scheduled payouts
- Implemented end-to-end encryption, JWT refresh-token rotation, biometric authentication, and device fingerprinting
- Integrated a third-party KYC provider with webhook-driven identity verification flow
- Submitted and managed App Store + Google Play dual-platform release with staged rollout and feature flags
